Fourteen of the Trent Rowing Club under 16 juniors competed at a regional trail day aiming to be picked to represent the East Midlands at the end of April at the Junior Inter Regional Regatta. Trents juniors raced in the following events:
J16.1x – Scott Smith
WJ16.2x – Emma Harlow, Chloe Brown
WJ16.2x – Evie Davies, Olivia Lee
WJ15.2x – Lucy Stokes, Elizabeth Carlile
J15.2x – Jack Newbold, Euan Bell
WJ14.2x – Mia O'Donnell, Olivia Bates
WJ16.4x – Olivia Lee, Evie Davies, Sophie Winfieldale, Lauren Newbould
WJ15.4x+ - Mia O'Donnell, Olivia Bates, Lucy Stokes, Elizabeth Carlile and cox Millie Benton
The womens Junior 15 coxed quad were selected to represent the East Midlands which was an amazing achievement as they had only raced at one other recent event. They also had a new crew member, Olivia Bates who had never competed so this was a particularly daunting but exciting opportunity for them all.
Scott Smith raced in the Junior 16 single scull category narrowly missed out on the win by 3 secs in this tough event but was invited to represent the region in the double sculls event.
Jack Newbold and Euan Bell did not win their event but were also asked to compete in the regions Junior 15 coxed quadruple sculls.
The women's junior 16 crews all raced hard but did not win their events and therefore the faster crews from other clubs were selected.
The eight chosen athletes will be racing for the East Midlands at the National Water Sports Centre, Holme Pierrepont in Nottingham on Saturday 25th April 2015.
