Trent Rowing Club Learn to Row Scheme
Trent Rowing Club is currently welcoming new members of any age or experience, to participate in rowing on a trial basis through the Learn to Row scheme. Sessions will take place in Spring 2024. Our only requirement is that you can swim, and are age 10 or above.
What can I expect?
At the Trent Rowing Club you will find top class equipment, experienced and dedicated coaches and instructors, and above all a friendly, relaxed and inviting atmosphere.
We welcome prospective members of any age or ability, whether you wish to train for the National Championships, would like to compete at some of the regattas around the country, or maybe just wish to get a little fitter and paddle for fun.
We understand that you may not wish to become a full member of the club immediately, and so we operate a Learn to Row Trial Participation Scheme for newcomers to the Club. This lets you try out the Sport and the Club’s facilities for up to two months for a nominal monthly fee. At the end of the first month you may go on to join the Club, or if you wish you may extend your Learn to Row period for a further month. If for any reason you decide not to continue with the Club you may simply discontinue your Trial Participation at any time with no further obligation.
What happens in the Learn to Row scheme?
During your Learn to Row period the Club will teach you to row either on your own in a single sculling boat, or maybe with other members in one of the Club’s larger boats. You will also be entitled to use the Club’s training and social facilities. Whilst we will not be able to enter Trial Participants in any regattas or other British Rowing events (you need to be a full member of the Club for this) you will be welcome to come along to any of the regattas at which Club members may be competing to see what the sport is all about.
When you first visit the Club you will be given a Trial Participant Registration Form. To register please complete the form and hand it with your first months payment of £25.00 to one of our coaches. They will complete a payment receipt on the inside of the form and return a tear off section to you.
Your registration form will then be filed along with your emergency contact details (Participants under the age of 18 will need to obtain their parents or guardians consent on the registration form and the separate Parental Consent Form prior to commencing their participation). There are a few items contained within a ‘Declaration’ section of the form, we would ask you to read these carefully before signing the declaration to ensure that you understand and agree to them – they are there to protect you and the Club. If there is anything that you don’t understand or that you are uncomfortable with, please ask one of the coaches for advice.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
